Victorian Energy Upgrades program
The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program reduces greenhouse gases by providing access to discounted energy efficient products and services.
What is VEU Program?
This Victorian Government program helps businesses and households cut power bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It does this by providing access to discounted energy-efficient products and services.
Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 (the Act) and commenced on 1 January 2009. The scheme is administered in accordance with the Act, the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Regulations 2008 and the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (Project-Based Activities) Regulations 2017.
The VEET scheme is designed to make energy efficiency improvements more affordable, contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, and encourage investment, employment and innovation in industries that supply energy efficiency goods and services.
Benefits of the program
Save upto 80% on costs
Did you know that you could save up to 80% on your lighting costs (up to per globe per year) by installing more efficient lighting technology?
More efficient lighting
Recent developments in lighting technology, including LEDs and CFLs, mean that the lighting in your home can be powered more efficiently.
Low maintenance costs
Not only will the latest energy-efficient lighting reduce your energy bill but it will also reduce your maintenance costs because new lighting technology lasts longer.
Get financial incentives
The Victorian Government is committed to helping households and businesses reduce their bills by offering financial incentives for replacing your old lighting equipment.
How it works?
-
The program works by setting a state-wide target for energy savings that results in a range of energy-efficient products and services being made available to homes and businesses at a discount
-
Accredited providers generate Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates, which are sold to energy retailers.
-
The VEU program is a market-based program. The incentives received by households and businesses varies depending on the market activity and certificate price.
-
Since 2009 the VEU program has provided incentives to more than 1.8 million households.
Check your eligibility
